Gratin...

So here's the gratin recipe as requested from my #sundaycookoff entry…

Weigh out your potatoes… I cook approx 2lbs which is 12PP to get 6 large portions…
at 4PP per portion

12PP - potatoes
2PP - milk
2PP - butter
5PP - creme fraiche
3PP - cheese
------------------------
24PP - Total recipe

What do I need...

900g / 2lbs of potatoes
Spray oil
2 tbsp butter (I use soya butter its 1PP per tbsp)
salt and pepper
garlic salt
6 laughing cow cheese triangles broken into chunks, I'm trying the Blue Cheese one next!
2-4 crushed cloves of garlic... this is purely down to taste… I LOVE lotsa garlic!
Half pint of skimmed milk
Creme fraiche - tesco half fat is 5PP per 100g, Glenisk - 6pp per 100g
Herbs of your choice... Thyme is nice...

What do I do...

Heat your oven to 450F / Gas 8 / 230C

Spray your baking dish with oil...

Slice your potatoes...

Melt your butter and add the potatoes with the seasoning...

Layer them in the bottom of the baking dish...

Top with a half of the cheese and half the crushed garlic...

Layer the rest of the potatoes on top…

In a separate bowl, mix the creme fraiche, milk and garlic salt and pour over the potatoes

Top with the rest of the cheese and bake for 45- 50 mins until the potatoes are soft and the top is crispy...

Divide by 6 for 4PP per portion… lotsa veg and your protein!
